Likak Research recruits 01 Media and Communication Officer

Role purpose

The Media and Communication officer will undertake coordinate; manage the implementation of Likak Research media, internal and external communications activities, including blogs, articles and press release around Likak Research clinical activities in West and Central Africa. The post-holder will manage Likak Research, communication, social media and campaign activities.

Scope of role

Reports to: Director of Likak Research

Technical responsibility: writing, editing, communication, quality control and campaign

Key areas of accountability

  • Strengthen internal and external communications capacity
  • Ensure that the branding and communication guidelines of Likak Research are uniformly and consistently followed
  • Increase engagement, visibility of Likak Research activities
  • Manage the production of high quality communication products (including infographics, factsheets, e-newsletter) and its consistent circulation to internal staff and external stakeholders
  • Manage the development of internal documents for the different internal communications platforms and ensure its compliance with Likak Research branding guidelines
  • Regularly update intranet and the Likak Research Website.
  • Regularly contribute on story ideas to support fundraising efforts
  • Ensure that Likak Research keys national, regional and global events are communicated
  • Manage the quality and efficiency of Likak Research Social Media Channels
  • Strengthen Media Engagement, Organizational Visibility and Branding
  • Act as a focal point for media requests
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigators to develop key messages and promote programmatic goals in the media.
  • Draft newsworthy media releases and reactive statements as necessary.
  • Develop core materials including Q&A, key messages, case studies, blogs, and talking points.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key national and international journalists and media outlets.
  • Ensure proper sign-off of all media materials by Likak Research Managing Director
  • Support the team and perform other duties and tasks as determined by the line manager.

  • Internal: Managing Director, Principal Investigators,  , Executive Assistant.
  • External: Partners organisations, Donors, Research Participants.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Communication or Journalism from a recognized higher institution, with a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Interest in clinical research and development issues
  • Proficient computer skills required with Adobe InDesign CS, Adobe Photoshop, Publisher, PPT, and MS office package, layout and design software, applications
  • Ability to work with people of different culture
  • Excellent interpersonal skills end ability to work successfully in team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, publications and presentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project’s zones when required
  • Fluency in French and English
