The US Embassy Dakar hiring a Pouch Mail Room Clerk.
Salary: 7,738,726 FCFA/year
This position performs all aspects of local and international mail service including West African embassies and Washington DC. The incumbent performs all mailroom activities including document reproduction and messenger services plus piece count statistics. Additionally, this position assists the telephone switchboard operation. Provides authorized customers with information about mailing about mailing rates, extra services, U.S. Customs regulations, and proper packaging information. Calculates proper postage, assists customers with Click-n-Ship (web-based USPS postage site), ensures that no hazardous or restricted materials are being sent through the USPS system. Affixes customs forms. Accepts and postmarks official mailings and voting material. Resolves accountable mail claims and complaints. This position reports to the Mailroom Supervisor
Experience: Six (6) months of prior mail or messenger service is required.
Job knowledge: Must be knowledgeable of local and international mail procedures and policies, as well as USG mailing regulations. Must be familiar with Mission organizations, their functions, and personnel.
Education Requirements: Completion of secondary school is required.
Language: Level III (good working knowledge) of both English and French, both written and spoken, is required. The ability to speak and understand (Level 3) Wolof is required in the completion of the switchboard duties. (This may be tested)
Skills and abilities: This is a customer service oriented position so tact and diplomacy skills are paramount to successful community relations. Ability to lift 25kg pouch bag is required. Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
