The Westchester Community Foundation uses grantmaking to invest in high-performing organizations with transformative ideas that improve lives and strengthen the community.

Seed Grants
They are committed to building promising futures for all ages by supporting workforce development and job placement; providing access to legal services for vulnerable populations; meeting basic human needs and supporting self-sufficiency; and supporting the development of resilient youth.

They encourage:

community partnerships linking industry, training, and job-seekers;
career-exploration and technical-education programs that prepare youth for high-quality jobs that offer a path to a career;
programs that include internships and apprenticeships; and
programs designed to serve a particular constituency, including those with barriers to achieving successful employment.

The Foundation prioritizes collaborations and thoughtful partnerships that foster shared learning and action.
The Foundation looks for best practices and emerging ideas that lead to innovative approaches to solving problems.
The Foundation regard the grantmaking as an investment in the social good of community. They work with their grantees to improve performance through ongoing assessment.
The Foundation does NOT make grants from its competitive grants program to:

individuals;
endowment campaigns;
capital campaigns;
equipment purchases that are not intrinsic to the proposed project;
routine operating expenses;
deficit financing;
medical research;
religious activities;
events.
Eligibility Criteria

The Foundation makes grants to tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations operating or proposing to operate programs for the benefit of Westchester residents and communities.
Agencies with a pending 501(c)(3) application must use an approved organization as a fiscal agent.
Where appropriate, they will fund local government entities, including school districts.
All agencies must be vetted and approved prior to receiving a grant. They look for good governance practices and organizations with a strong financial position.
